Extending your home?

Building a house extension can be a stressful and bureaucratic experience, but Swindon Borough Council is offering to minimise the pain with a free workshop for residents

The “Getting the Builders In” workshop aims to steer people around the pitfalls of extending a house to make the whole process less of a chore.

Council planning experts will be on hand to explain how building designs can be made to comply with planning and building regulations. They will also be offering tips on finding a good builder, and providing advice on how to make sure the building work delivers what people want from their extension.

It will be held between 4pm and 5.30pm at the Civic Offices in Euclid Street, Swindon, on Wednesday 3rd December.

The workshop is free to residents of Swindon borough. Anyone wishing to attend the event should phone 01793 466445 or email: ddewart@swindon.gov.uk to register their interest. Alternatively, a “Getting the Builders In” information pack is available to those who are unable to attend the workshop.
