Top Tips For July

The weather might not be very summer-y, but that's no reason not to be out tending to your garden

With all this rain, you're probably finding it hard to believe that we're already halfway through a traditional British summer. However, your garden's still going to need some attention, so here's our top tips for this month.

Essential things to do in July
  1. Gardening In Swindon
Dead-head your plants to keep them blooming - very therapeutic!
  2. Hoe off weeds - they love the sunshine
  3. Give conservatory plants a summer holiday by putting them outside while it's warm
  4. If your lawn is looking tired give it a sprinkling of a quick-acting summer feed
  5. Got a pond? Clear any algae that may have started forming. It can spread very quickly if not sorted.
  6. Ventilate the greenhouse - it can get tooooo hot!
  7. Turnover the compost. The heat provides the perfect environment for making compost so keep it moving.
  8. Think of the birds. They'd love a drink as well!
  9. Keep on top of the pests. Be vigilant for all those little nasties.
  10. Remember the holidays - who's going to water your plants while you're away?
We went down and spoke to James Greenslade at Toomers Garden Centre to find out how to extend the life of your summer flowers...
