Window Displays Brighten Up Old Town 

New partnership at Gilberts of Swindon gets new look underway

 

If you regularly drive past Gilberts of Swindon on the corner of Marlborough Road and Newport Street you'll start to notice a few changes.

 

The carpet and furniture store, which has been in Old Town since 1866, has teamed up with Hobbs Interiors to give its window displays a new lease of life.

 

 

"We've worked with Josi [Hobbs] for a while now and promote her interior design services here in the shop," Gilberts owner Graeme Gattrill told us.

 

"She has already kindly made some curtains and blinds for some of our smaller window displays and when the chance came to jazz up our main front window Josi jumped at the chance to add her personal touch to that too.

 

"With our furniture and accessories and her eye for detail and arrangement, it's the perfect partnership."

 

150 year anniversary

 

The front façade of Gilberts has also re-painted too, with Graeme already thinking of how the business will celebrate their 150 year anniversary in 2016.

 

 

"It's an incredible achievement when you think about," he added.

 

"We've survived two world wars and everything else before and after, and it was the Great War commemoration this year that got us thinking about it.

 

"So we've decided to go for exactly how Gilberts used to look 100 years ago.

 

"And to think I'm only been working here for 40 years. Still a youngster!"
