Mayhem at Mackenzies!
Kitchen set to re-open After a blaze ripped through the kitchen of Mackenzies café-bar on Wood Street last week, we can now confirm that work to rebuild the fire-damaged area - including the kitchen roof - is underway.
And the refurbished kitchen is set to open for service on
Monday 30 June.
Kitchen fire sparks disaster for Wood Street bar Wood Street came to a stand-still yesterday afternoon as firefighters battled a kitchen blaze in a popular Old Town bar.
The fire, which engulfed the kitchen of Mackenzies café-bar, began just after 4pm.
One onlooker told us: "I was on Wood Street when the fire alarms started going off and five fire engines turned up.
"It looked pretty serious because the firemen went in wearing breathing apparatus, and I could see flames rising from the back of the building.
"The kitchen roof was destroyed and the kitchen looked gutted."
Check back tomorrow for a full gallery and more information on the blaze. |
