Tragic milestone for Wootton Bassett today

Paying respects:
retired servicemen
in Wootton Bassett
Today marked a sad day for Wootton Bassett residents, who paid their respects to the 100th service person repatriated at Lyneham during the war in Afghanistan.

As WO2 Gary O'Donnell's body passed through the town this morning, hundreds lined the streets yet again to remember those who are paying the highest cost of war.

Anne Bevis, Secretary of the Wootton Bassett British Legion, said: "The repatriations are a way of showing the families of these heroes that we honour their memories.

"People are giving an hour of their time, but it's a small price compared to that paid by these lads."
