Crewe 1 Swindon 0Coca-Cola Leage One
RESULT: Crewe 1 Swindon 0 Crewe scorer: Miller 45 +4 Swindon sending off: Paynter 67 Swindon slumped to another dismal away defeat at bottom of the table Crewe. To make things worse Town ended the game with 10 men as Billy Paynter was handed his marching orders for retaliation against Crewe captain Michael O'Connor. Despite dominating for much of the first-half, Swindon went into the break behind as Shaun Miller pounced in stoppage time to hand the home side the advantage. Despite having the worst defensive record in the league Town were rarely unable to threaten the shaky Crewe defence - the best of the chances falling to Billy Paynter before he was sent off. Simon Cox's nearly handed the visitors an unlikely and frankly undeserved point late on but his flicked header was just wide of the target. With Swindon now firmly in a relegation dog-fight it seems that a new manager is desperately needed to offer some stability and direction to a team short on confidence. The Christmas period could be make or break with three games against sides that are just above and below the Reds in the League One table.
