Oh, Danny boy!
Fitton frustrated as manager search called off - but is Wilson now the name in the frame?
19 December 2008
In an official statement, the club admitted the Board had experienced a 'frustrating week trying to finalise an appointment' and if necessary would '.... take steps to re-start the process'.
It had been expected that a new manager would be in place in time for tomorrow's home clash with Yeovil, with either Richard Money or Dave Hockaday the favourites to become boss.
Former Premiership boss Danny Wilson is now apparently one of the major names in the frame, after being sacked by Hartlepool on the 15th.
"We remain determined to find the right person for the post..... and no one will thank the Board if we get this appointment wrong," Fitton says.
Wilson's managerial high points:
1997: Promoted to Premiership with Barnsley
1999: Leads Sheffield Wednesday to 12th in Premiership
2000-2004: achieves win ratio of 47.2% at Bristol City
2005: Rescues MK Dons from relegation
2008: Manages Hartlepool to second in League Two |
