The tournament know as the “Gothia (World Youth) Cup” is regarded as one of the best youth tournaments in the world, with teams from North and South America, Africa as well as other parts of Europe all taking part.

Aiming High:

The Gothia experience allows the players to further both their football and personal development.

"It is a truly exciting and amazing opportunity for any player," commented Shane Hewlett STFC / SBC Football Development Officer.

"The enormity and atmosphere of the tournament is hard to explain and give justice to but, the outstanding camaraderie and interaction between different nationalities is truly something special to behold."

The tournament enables everyone to savour different sporting, social and cultural experiences and each year the experience offers new opportunities.

This year Swindon Town Football in the community girls aim to be the first ever English Girls’s side to win the G17 age group. The girls will be in the opening ceremony with 52,000 spectators present and will have to battle through nine games in a gruelling week to win and become World Youth Champions.

The season starts here for STFC and hopefully the town will get behind the girls and follow their progress and this will be followed up by England ladies winning the Euro’s and Swindon Town gaining promotion.

The girls are ambassadors for Swindon Town Football in the Community, for women’s football and for putting the English women’s game on the world map.
