The Swindon players were applauded off the pitch after securing what Danny Wilson described as "three massive points".

 

Thomas Dossevi just one the stars as Town put in an impressive all-round performance that inflicted the first defeat on the road for high-flying Colchester.

 

The Frenchman finished with aplomb after being put through on the half-hour by Charlie Austin, before Austin himself grabbed his 10th of the season when he finished off the best move of the game.

 

In between the visitors levelled matters with a controversial effort on the stroke of half-time when the Swindon defence froze claiming an off-side.

 

But with Prutton and the Douglas back to run the midfield Town always looked in control despite a late scare that saw Colchester hit the bar after Phil Smith fumbled a cross.

 

Town climb to 13th.
