Long Way Home - Town crash at CarlisleCoca-Cola League 1
RESULT: Carlisle 3 Swindon Town 0
Carlisle scorers: J Anyinsah 27, 54, J Garner 75
A severely depleated Swindon side suffered their heaviest defeat of the season to high-flying Carlisle at Brunton Park.
Town once again ended the game without their full amount of players - after young centre-back Ben Tozer was given a red card for a professional foul mid-way through the second-half.
Carlisle took the lead just before the half hour mark when Joe Anyinsah fired home from close range - for the first of his two goals.
Despite being under-strength the Town side showed good effort and could count themselves unlucky to go into the half-time break behind.
The home team doubled their lead shortly after the re-start when Anyinsah scoed his and Carlisle's second - the winger latching onto a Joe Garner knock-down.
Ten minutes later the visitors found themselves down to 10 men as things went from bad to worse.
Young starlet Ben Tozer was given his marching orders for dragging down Garner - a decision that was decided after the referee had consulted his linesman.
Carlisle wrapped up the win when Garner headed home a cross from Simon Hackney - a goal that essentially was the final nail in the coffin for Swindon travelling contingent.
The players will look to bounce back from this defeat on Saturday when they travel to Southend. But once again with a team ravished by injuries and suspensions Dave Byrne will have his work cut out to try and get Swindon's season back on track.
