Yeovil Town 0 Swindon Town 1
Corr on target again as Town complete festive double
Coca-Cola League One
RESULT: Yeovil Town 0 Swindon Town 1
Swindon scorer: B Corr 66
Swindon avenged the defeat from earlier in the season as they continued their fine festive form with a 1-0 victory over Yeovil at Huish Park.
A second-half Barry Corr strike was enough to secure Swindon's second victory in a row and lift them back into the battle for play-off places. In an unsurprisingly tight first-half neither side gained the initiative; Town having only made one change from the team that beat Hartlepool on Saturday; Kaid Mohammed coming in for Sofi Zaaboub, who didn't travel to Somerset. The two big moments of the half were the loss of Town skipper Hasney Aljofree to injury and when James Walker hit the bar with a top quality strike from 20 yards. The second-half saw Swindon begin to take control of the game, with a couple of opportunities before they finally broke the deadlock on 66 minutes. Barry Corr slotting home his second goal in as many games. The big Irishman latching onto Craig Easton's through ball and cleverly lifting it over ex-Town keeper Steve Mildenhall.
Despite failing to find the second goal Town's cause was helped when referee Danny McDermid showed Yeovil skipper Terry Skiverton a red card for an off the ball incident involving Barry Corr – a decision that was influenced by the fourth official, much to the bemusement of most of the players. Town will look to continue their fine form as they travel to Bournemouth on Saturday, a team, who despite their lowly league position, are currently enjoying some good home form, having won their last two games.
