Swansea City 2 Swindon Town 1

Town fail to make it three-in-a-row

Coca-Cola League One

Tuesday 02 October 2007

RESULT: Swansea City 2 Swindon Town 1

Town scorer: Roberts 70
Swansea scorers: Anderson 21, Feeney 74

Too many lapses in concentration and individual errors were to blame for this defeat - Town's first in four games.

But after a lacklustre first-half, Town's performance did merit at least a draw, if not more according to manager Paul Sturrock.

"We were definitely the best side in the second-half," the Town boss said, "but they scored straight after our equaliser and that was the difference."

Injury

A misplaced pass from Sofi Zaaboub was to blame for the opening goal midway through the first-half, following the loss of Jack Smith to injury.

Anderson latching onto the ball just outside the six-yard box before firing home.

A goal that summed up the first period strewn with errors from both sides.

In the second-half, though, Town began to take a hold of the game, and finally drew level when Christian Roberts smashed home a deserved equaliser just past the hour mark.

Town's Welsh wizard running through the Swansea defence before firing a well-struck shot high into the net - much to the home fans derision.

An equaliser that got Town back into the game - but only for four minutes.

Swansea in front again with almost their next attacking move, as Paul Sturrock's men switched off defensively allowing Feeney the room to head home what proved to be the winner.
