Town's impressive run of form hit a bit of a festive blip on Saturday with a narrow defeat at home to Doncaster Rovers.

 

It was a game to forget from both sides, with neither team imposing themselves on the game for sustained periods.

 

Doncaster largely defended with 10 men behind the ball, and Town's continuous misplaced passes gave the home side little chance of breaking them down.

 

It was no surprise then that the game was to be decided by a spot-kick.

 

On 22 minutes Jordan Turnbull was adjudged to have brought down Dean Furman despite the central defenders protests, with Theo Robinson slotting the ball comfortably past the diving Wes Foderingham.

 

Town did have a chance to level the score from the spot with a little over 10 minutes to go, but it was not to be. Substitute Michael Smith seeing his penalty saved, and the South Yorkshire side returning home with the 3 points.
