Bury 2 Swindon 2
League One
RESULT: Bury 2 Swindon Town 2
Bury scorers: Pope 4, Mayor 52
Swindon scorers: Robert 74, Rodgers 83
Bury manager David Flitcroft was left scratching his head tonight after seeing his team surrender a two-goal lead to visiting Swindon.
After a disappointing Capital One Cup tie in midweek, Town supporters would have been hoping for a quick start at Gigg Lane, but it failed to materialize, with the home side seeing all of the ball early doors.
And it didn't take long for the early possession to pay-off - Tom Pope rising high to meet a cross from Joe Riley after just 4 minutes.
Town were rattled, and when the referee pointed to the spot following an ill-timed challenge from Chiliean shot stopper Lawrence Vigouroux, the writing appeared to be on the wall.
Only the wayward finishing of Bury's Leon Clarke could spare the Liverpool loanee's blushes now, and thankfully he was happy to oblige - missing the target by quite some distance!
The reprieve didn't last long however, and just 7 minutes into the second half, Bury doubled their lead with the bright looking Danny Mayor notching his first goal of the season.
The second goal sparked Swindon into life, and with 15-minutes left on the clock - Town struck.
Yaser Kasim feeding the ball through to the sprightly Fabien Robert, who found space, and then the net.
The Robins were dominating now, and Anton Rodgers was left to seal the surprising comeback - firing home a freekick from a good 20-25 yards and sending the away fans into raptures.
Town manager Mark Cooper later commented "I think when you’re 2-0 down and draw 2-2 you have to be happy but I’m frustrated.
If we’d stayed patient at the end we’d have created one chance that could have won the game. We wasted half a game today. We probably got the shape a bit wrong but we’ve come back and got a point away from home."
