Bristol Rovers 2 Swindon 2

Town denied victory with last kick of the game

Coca-Cola League One

RESULT: Bristol Rovers 2 Swindon 2

Rovers scorers: R Lambert 26, C Lines 90+4
Swindon scorers: P Kanyuka 39, B Corr 53

A goal in the 94th minute - literally the last kick of the game - from Chris Lines denied Town what would have been three well-deserved points.

Despite going behind to a wonder strike from Ricky Lambert, Town looked to be heading for victory following goals from Pat Kanyuka and Barry Corr either side of half-time.

But Lines sparked chaotic scenes late-on with his equaliser in the dying seconds - and then subsequent sending off for a second yellow card.

Tactical switch

Town's caretaker boss Dave Byrne had earlier opted for a bold line-up from the kick-off, with Ben Joyce named in a surprise three-pronged attack alongside Barry Corr and Billy Paynter.

A move that looked to have backfired, however, when the youngster was taken off after only half an hour, to be replaced by Jon-Paul McGovern.

A tactical switch that paid off within minutes when a McGovern corner resulted in Kanyuka turning home his first goal in a Town shirt from just 3 yards out.

A second just after half-time through Barry Corr's low finish then looked to have given Swindon all three points before defensive hesitation let Rovers grab a point at the death.

"It's a good away point when you look at the result," Byrne said, "but the lads are bitterly disappointed we let them back in when we shouldn't have.

"We're undefeated in the last five League games, and let's hope we can take some of the grit and determination we showed today into Tuesday night [against Peterborough] and continue the run .

"Now that will be a test."
