Malpas: philosophical
A lack of concentration in the closing minutes cost Swindon all three points this afternoon.

Former Town target Adebayo Akinfenwa - who failed a medical at the County Ground after signing in June 2007 - heading home unmarked just as Town were looking to play the clock down 1-0 up.

"It was a good delivery to be fair," how a disappointed Maurice Malpas described the corner kick that led to the goal.

"But we never got going throughout the game. And when you don't get a second goal in games like this, things like that happen."

Damp squib

In a largely turgid affair, there was very little to excite the crowd in a match that never came to life.

The loss of Barry Corr early on due to a shoulder injury adding further to a damp County Ground atmosphere that matched the quality of the football.

His replacement, though, Blair Sturrock, providing the one moment of cheer for Town fans when the Scot volleyed in the opener just after the break.

A close-range effort that looked like being the winner until Akinfenwa levelled matters in the 87th minute.

A draw that extends Town's unbeaten League run to nine games: won four; drawn five.
