Caught On Camera

How some Swindon drivers are avoiding the Victoria Road closure

Here's a crafty - and highly illegal - way of getting around the road closure on Victoria Road this week.

CCTV footage shows Swindon drivers with a blatant disregard for road safety as they mount the pavement to manoeuvre around the barriers currently in place while urgent maintenance work is undertaken by Thames Water.

Diversions are in place.

But what do you think?

Since this video, the contractors have made passing on the pavement impossible, even though some cars were still keen to see if there was a way past when we visited today!

And some locals and business people have taken advantage of the road closure rule that makes the double yellow lines null and void, though, by parking their cars on the hill.
