Aspiring youngsters get a first glance at the engineering future of Swindon
Swindon often gets a bad rap for having very few prospects for young people, but that wasn't the case at the UTC open evening last night.
The event, held at STEAM Museum, saw aspiring youngsters get a look at Swindon's first University Technical College [UTC], which is set to open in September 2014.
The University Technical College is a relatively new concept and is aimed at providing a focused, employer-led engineering & technical education to students aged between 14-19 designed for work-readiness.
Staff and directors from the college were on hand to describe exactly what will be on offer in terms of technical education and how students could apply for places.
We went down to the event to see for ourselves how Swindon's engineering future is going to look...
The UTC Swindon team is preparing to attend many large events throughout the summer months, handing out leaflets and sharing information with potential students and their parents about UTC Swindon which opens in September 2014.
