Swindon Artwork On Top Of The World
Air Tattoo 2014 poster designed by Old Town's David Bent unveiled on Everest
Talk about sky high, the official artwork for the 2014 Royal International Air Tattoo was recently launched in a very unusual place - 5367 metres above sea level.
Deputy Director Marketing, Helen Webb, unveiled the new poster at Mount Everest Base Camp as part of an expedition mentoring Air Cadet Junior Leaders who had been selected to receive a bursary from the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
The Air Tattoo artwork has again been created by leading modern aviation artist David Bent, who lives and works in Old Town.
The 2014 poster features the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows, who will be celebrating their 50th Display Season when the Air Tattoo comes round again at RAF Fairford next July.
Red Arrows 50th Display Season
David has created the artwork after the Red Arrows invited him to collaborate as Artist in Residence in 2007 when they saw his outstanding artwork exhibited at the Air Tattoo.
He continues to have a great relationship with the team and has created a number of artworks based on their iconic aerobatic displays.

Having climbed in the Himalayas himself, David sends his congratulations to Helen and the Air Cadets and says he is delighted that the artwork was launched in such a brilliant location!
Helen said: "In a year which sees the Air Tattoo stage official celebrations marking the Red Arrows' 50th Display Season, who better to design the airshow artwork than David. His unique and eye-catching images of the team enable us to reflect the undoubted stars of next summer's airshow across a wide range of media."
Andrew Morton, PR Manager for The Red Arrows, based at RAF Scampton said: "With wonderful use of colour, expert detail and creativity, David Bent's work reflects the precision and engineering excellence of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team."
