Turning Back The Clock!
Volunteers at Lydiard Park take a step back in time in support of Brighter Futures' #TheTimeIsNow campaign - SEE PICS
If you visited Lydiard Park over the weekend, you'd have been forgiven for thinking you'd woken up in the wrong century!
That's because dozens of Lydiard volunteers had gathered in the Walled Garden regaled in a variety of painstakingly crafted Georgian costumes, ahead of the Love Lydiard Craft Fair which takes place on the 4th and 5th July.
The 35 volunteering stalwarts were supporting the Brighter Futures' #TheTimeIsNow campaign which aims to bring radiotherapy treatment to the Great Western Hospital.
Volunteer and professional upholsterer Val Stuyvesant, from Royal Wootton Bassett, has been giving her time and skills for the past seven months and now has an exquisite Jane Austen dress complete with traditional Poke bonnet to show for it.
She commented “We have had a fantastic time creating these costumes and we can’t wait for people to see them in action at the craft fair.
We also heard about #TheTimeIsNow campaign and wanted to show our support for such an important cause, so the fair is a wonderful celebration of both Swindon’s past and also looking to the future.”
