Twinning Toast!

Arkell's celebrate Swindon-Salzgitter anniversary with special brewery tour - WATCH VIDEO

Anglo-German relations were well and truly cemented at a special event at Arkell's Brewery today.

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the twinning of Swindon and Salzgitter, Arkell's invited a party from the Twinning Association to take a tour of the brewery and to toast the union with their new Bock beer.

Head brewer Alex Arkell did much of his brewer’s training in Germany (Munich), and loves German beers and lagers.

Bock originated in Einbeck, near Saltzgitter Northern Germany (south of Hannover), in the thirteenth century as a dark, sweet, malty lager and was quickly taken up by the Munich brewers who couldn’t get enough of it.

"It tastes very good and I wish a big success for this type of beer" said Manfred Voss, Chairman Deutsch-Englische Gesellschaft, Salzgitter.
