It's The Eboladome! 

And it's in Swindon! New Grand Tour test track gets the Clarkson treatment

 

It's not a race track.

 

It's not an airfield.

 

It's not a road.

 

What it is is brilliant and fast. And extremely dangerous, says Jeremy Clarkson.

 

And it's in Swindon!

 

 

The new test track for the multi-million pound series of The Grand Tour is at the former RAF Wroughton.

 

And as you'd expect from Clarkson and co, it's ever so slightly controversial.

 

Named by the man himself as 'The Eboladome' for it's layout similarities to the ebola virus, the track itself features such exciting as

 

'the straight that's not quite straight' and

 

'old lady's house'

 

the tricky  'sub station'.

 

and the final corner 'field of sheep'.

 

Not to mention part of the circuit was re-routed because of an unexploded bomb!

 

 

All of which was demonstrated in the show by a Ferrari 488 put through its paces before Clarkson got behind the wheel of his car of choice, a BMW M2.

 

A model he went on to describe as 'the best M car BMW has ever made.'

 

"This track is point & squirt. And bark & yelp. It's vicious!"

 

Before finishing by saying that "this track is a lot cheaper than Silverstone but I know which one I'd rather drive round!'

 

Expect to see the beautiful backdrop of Swindon on The Grand Tour again next week.
