New era for Create in Swindon 

A digital ribbon was cut to officially re-launch Create Studios today.

 
The film and digital media organisation, which was formed twenty-four years ago, celebrating a new move to the Wyvern Theatre - and the unveiling of a brand new initiative - the Flux Mobile.

"It's the start of a new and exciting era for us," said Stuart Webb, the head of Create Studios.

 
"We want to create a place where artists, individuals and communities can come together and be inspired and get creative with the latest technologies."

A statement backed up when invited guests were given a tour of Create's new studios and media suites, plus the Flux Mobile - a specially converted bus fitted out with the latest technology, which will be visiting schools in the Swindon area.

 The day also included a showcase of work from local young talent as well as from professional artists and filmakers. The first meeting of Swindon's very own Media Group (see link below) also took place.

The event concluded in fine style with music from Trip Dress and the first of a number of free interface talks from digital artists Furtherfield.

"This is a fantastic facility," commented Justin Tomlinson, Swindon Borough Council's lead member for Culture and Recreation, "with the studios here and the Flux equipment going all over the town, this is a really positive hands-on, tangible thing to get involved in."
