All star line-up for BBC Big Weekend

All star line-up set for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Swindon

Lily Allen, Snow Patrol and Kasabian will headline BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Swindon on 9th and 10th May 2009. Joining them is an amazing line-up of over 50 UK and international artists including Ne-Yo, Franz Ferdinand and Akon.

Kicking off this year's festival season, the station's free annual flagship event comes from Lydiard Park and 40,000 lucky music fans can enjoy music from four arenas in the park - the Main Stage; the In New Music We Trust Stage; the Outdoor Stage; and the BBC Introducing Stage. For listeners tuning in there will also be exclusive Live Lounge sessions broadcast from backstage.

Radio 1's Chris Moyles announced the Main Stage and In New Music We Trust Stage line-ups on his show this morning.

A truly multi-platform experience, the two-day event will be broadcast on Radio 1, with a major interactive presence online at bbc.co.uk/radio1 and many live performances available to watch on demand. There will be highlights on BBC Three and extended performances can be seen via the red button on digital TV during the weekend.

Registration for tickets opens at 8.15am tomorrow (Wednesday 15 April), and runs until 10.00am on Monday 20 April at bbc.co.uk/radio1.

There are 40,000 tickets available across the weekend - tickets are free, but last year over half a million people applied for them and demand is expected to be massive again this year. Each lucky applicant will receive a pair of tickets for either Saturday or Sunday.

The event goes to a different area in the UK each year and BBC Radio 1 will again ensure a degree of preference is given to local residents. Tickets will be allocated randomly, but weighted in favour of those living in Swindon and the surrounding area, with a smaller amount distributed nationally.

Throughout the weekend, Radio 1 DJs including Chris Moyles; Jo Whiley; Vernon Kay; Scott Mills; Fearne & Reggie; Edith Bowman; Zane Lowe; Annie Mac; Greg James; and Nick Grimshaw will be introducing the bands on stage and broadcasting from the event.
