Swindon Wildcats 7 Romford Raiders 2

The Cats get back to their winning ways

Wildcats v Romford in Swindon
Win for the Wildcats:
Swindon take on Romford at
the Link Centre in Swindon
With four defeats in a row Swindon got back to their winning ways this weekend as they faced old rivals the Romford Raiders.

It didn't take long for Swindon to open the score line in the first period when Sitko's powerful shot deflected off the boards and John Wheaton was there to pick up the lose puck and place it into the back of the net.

And the attack contiued, 5 minutes later when the home side doubled their lead through Nicky Watt.

Swindon scored their third goal with 5 minutes of the period remaining
only to see this disallowed due to a high stick call on Ryan Aldridge.

The first period ended 2-0.

The second period saw the Cats return in full attack and in just over a minute Aldridge made up for the high stick call and extended the home side lead to 3-0.

Romford tried to cut the deficit and with 10 minutes remaining they managed to pull a goal back through Scott Mackenzie.

Swindon replied to this within 3 minutes with a goal by youngster Ciaran Long.
With the period coming to an end Swindon were looking to go into the final period 4-1 up, but with 50 seconds remaining Jamie Hayes made the score 5-1.

The third period started the way the second ended, with Swindon having most of the possesion. It wasnt long before swindon took a 6-1 lead and giving Ciaran Long his second goal of the night.

With Romford heads dropped Matty Davies took advantage and netted his first goal of the night less than 30 seconds later.

Romford scored half way through the final period but this was nothing more than a consolaion goal as the damage was already done.

The Final Score was 7-2 and a good convincing win for Swindon and getting them back to their winning ways.
