Redundancy
Dealing with losing your job, and who can help
Redundancy is a scary thought for anyone with financial responsibilities - particularly if given at short notice.
This section guides you through everything your employer must comply to when making you redundant, and what your first steps should be.
If you've recently lost your job, there are a few things you need to check, so that you're not left out of pocket.
It is a legal requirement that your employer provides the following:
* All the wages you’re entitled to on your last day * Payment for any outstanding period of notice you haven’t worked * Accrued holiday pay * Details of pension arrangements * Income tax form P45 * Job references * Redundancy pay * Letter stating date of redundancy
The Department for Business Innovations & Skills deals with all types of employment matters.
They will answer any question you have regarding redundancy and your rights, whilst helping you find the right skills to get another job.
