Opportunity Knocks
How to make the best business start to 2010
Do you believe in opportunity? It is often said that opportunities are right in front of us however we don’t always see them. If we did, wouldn’t life simply be a piece of cake?
An opportunity is a chance, a break, a new beginning. It can be something or someone to take you and /or your business forward. But are you ready to see an opportunity?
Jim Carrey’s character saw an opportunity which arrived when he least expected it. However he didn’t fully understand how to embrace what was presented. It’s about being aware of, being ready for and knowing which opportunity to take. You need to make the choice – is it right or wrong for you? Look at opportunities as your time to flourish and bloom.
Think carefully before you ignore an opportunity. At your next meeting with a prospective customer why not change your attitude and say “I can do that for you”? Consider the people you know who could help you achieve this opportunity. Say “Yes” to grasp opportunities to progress.
Say “Yes” to expert help and advice. Why?
Now that you’ve said “I can do that for you”, who do you call? Do you have access to a network of good, skilled and knowledgeable people who can help you?
When you run a small business you can’t be all things for all people. Often within your business there is only one of you, and as tempting as it is to think you can do everything yourself, that is a big mistake. Now, faced with an opportunity that you have said “Yes” to, how do you place your business in a position of strength? Take advantage of your network of experts.
Build solid relationships with associate businesses that you can rely on for advice and help. Think broadly about who can help you deliver excellent results. Surround yourself with great people who bring ideas to push both your businesses toward success.
Say “Yes” to an opportunity and you will create a win: win outcome for you, your associates and your customers.
