The Simple Things

Aren’t holidays such a wonderful time to recharge your batteries and to rediscover your passion for what it is you do, and to notice the simple things that life has to offer?

 

A holiday is a chance to step back from life and re engage with who you are and what you do for others. The idea for this article was very much inspired by an amazing book called “The Monk who Sold his Ferrari” by Robin Sharma.

 

So what can we learn from this story?

 

It’s the simple things in life that we often overlook. These things, when we let them, can bring us the most joy, and they are often right there in front of us.

 

We all lead busy lives which often stop us from seeing, hearing, feeling, enjoying and just being. Take nature for example. Right now spring is bursting forth with an abundance of new growth. It’s a season of re birth. Have you taken the time to notice the rich green of the new leaves, the budding blossoms and flowers? Nature really does paint a beautiful picture; a kaleidoscope of colour, shape, fragrance and texture, to invigorate and inspire us all.

 

Robin Sharma captured the essence of these simple things throughout the story, giving me an opportunity to reflect on my business. A realisation dawned on me that was both positive and refreshing and it re confirmed my passion for what it is that I do. In other words the simple things about my business are right in front of me.

 

Perhaps the most important lesson learnt is to give yourself to the universe and help others. “Give to receive” may be one of the oldest morals in life but I am a firm believer in its power. For me it’s about the personal reward and joy I get when the people I help have the moment of realisation that they had it in them all along and that they can do it!
