6 Tips on how to write a great newsletter 

Why have countless business owners added newsletters as one of their major and successful marketing tools? Because they work. Regardless of the multitude of market sector newsletter written and sent out on a regular basis, your newsletter CAN compete and develop a strong following for you and your business. How?

1. Make a list of 6 -12 months of topics. This will give you a good idea of what type of information you wish to share with existing and prospective customers. Your list provides focus and helps you prepare from one month to the next.
2. Consider your writing style. Think about how you portray yourself and your business. Do you want the content to be light and conversational or more structured and specific? Match the needs of your customer.
3. Consider the frequency of your newsletter. As a garden designer a quarterly newsletter could provide helpful seasonal hints, tips and offers. A monthly issue may better suit a web designer or IT specialist, as they can provide the latest advice and breakthroughs in technology to keep their customers well informed of industry changes.
4. Do you have the time/skills to write? Thinks about how much you can commit to your newsletter. Outsourcing is an option which allows you to get on with running and growing your business, safe in the knowledge that a vital part of your marketing is being taken care of.
5. What is your message?  Do you want to be seen as an expert in your field, or as a helpful and reputable business who offers practical advice and how to tips and hints?
6. Follow the AIDA process. Grab Attention in your subject line. Develop your reader’s Interest by focussing your copy on What’s In It For Them (WIIFT). Create a Desire and make them need what you are offering. Give them a clear call to Action by making it simple and easy to contact you.
