Four Great Ways to Make the Most of Your Business Journey
Our weekly Swindon business advice column with Gail Gibson
Do you travel to your office each day to work? Or are you someone who works from home who commutes to see your clients?
Regardless of where you run your business from, at some stage in your work day, you may travel in a car, bus, train or on foot.
When you are on your journey how do you spend your time? Do you read, work on your laptop or mobile device, or sit back and enjoy a little quiet solitude to gather your thoughts?
Do you know that there are ways to make more of your business journey; to improve your learning and education, to motivate and inspire, or to boost your confidence and self esteem?
Like to know what they are? Here are 4 great ways to make the most of your journey:
Meditate. Remember meditation doesn’t imply that you must close your eyes. This can be especially dangerous if you are driving a car! Meditation takes on many forms and you can find a style to suit you. What can it do for you? You can gather your thoughts, away from the hustle and bustle of your office, and focus on the meeting that you are going to. Meditation is your own reflection time to gain clarity and intention to put you in the best frame of mind.
Listen to Motivational Words. Don’t they say that if you change your mind, you can change your life? Listening to the wisdom of successful business people and entrepreneurs is food for your business soul. Be inspired by their words and be open to adopt the approach and methods they teach. Why not wow your client by grabbing an opportunity to implement one thing you heard on your journey?
Be Motivated by Music. Ever noticed someone in their car at the lights who is
singing their heart out to a favourite song? “Sing as if no one is listening” and boost your spirits as you belt out the chorus to uplifting and feel good tunes. Songs like “Fame”, “Wannabe Startin Something” and “Proud” will build you up if you are down in no time.
Give yourself a Pep talk. Be prepared and present the very best you. Focus on your strengths and believe you are that person. Coach yourself to success and personally acknowledge your own set of skills, abilities and accomplishments. Walk tall and proud when you meet your client. Show your true confident colours.
