Driving Swindon Forward

The official launch of the Swindon Strategic Economic Partnership

The official launch of the Swindon Strategic Economic Partnership (SSEP) was attended by over 120 representatives from the business community today, during a party held at Alexandra House.

Maximising Swindon's potential is at the top of the SSEP's agenda, who hope to bring together key players from the business and public sectors, to work towards common goals.

Planning the future:
Rikki Hunt, Chair of the SSEP, speaks to
specially invited guests about driving Swindon forward

Chair of the SSEP and successful local businessman, Rikki Hunt, is very passionate about what the partnership will bring to the town.

He said: “I can't wait to get more businesses involved in shaping the future of Swindon. “I believe that by combining the expertise and energies of our diverse business community with those of public sector agencies there is a chance to make a real difference for local people and put Swindon back on the national and international map.”

The launch signifies a great step forward for Swindon businesses, and the masterminds behind the project ultimately aim to assert Swindon as The UK's Best Business Location.

The morning's events included short presentations, a networking lounge, exhibition stands and video booths where delegates were on hand to offer on-the-spot feedback.

Opening the launch, Rikki's message to the business people of Swindon was loud and clear.

He said: “I hope you will be keen to get involved in supporting 'Driving Swindon Forward' in what promises to be a dynamic and action-driven network of projects.”

Start Up Competition

It was a positive day for Swindon-based SwinCity too, as they were awarded first place in the 'Swindon Business Start Up' competition.

The popular comic shop received a package of support, including a cash prize of £3,000, and membership of the new Swindon Chamber of Commerce, and the Federation of Small Businesses.
