A Stomping Success

Polo proves the perfect match for local business event

Polo was the name of the game at a successful corporate event organised by Swindon-based Planet Pursuits.

The event management company brought together eight local businesses in a combined effort to co-sponsor a polo match at Longdole Polo Club, near Birdlip, Gloucestershire, on Sunday. And despite a slightly grey afternoon, the day was heralded as a huge success by both guests and sponsors.

“Polo just seemed the perfect way to showcase our services and the support was staggering."

"We are all professionals at our trade at when combined we can put together an amazing event, the aim was to show local companies what we can do and bring businesses further afield to sample the Cotswolds,” commented Director Simon Maddison, who coordinated the event and sponsored the trophy and prizes.

Over 80 guests attended the event and watched 3 polo matches including the final. Each sponsor agreed to provide its services for free. Louise Boyce from Planet Venues, the venue finding arm of Planet Pursuits Events, coordinated the client list and invitations and liaised with the Cotswolds Four Pillars Hotel to provide accommodation for guests travelling from as far as Leeds and London.

The build for the day commenced four days before, with the rigging of a contemporary marquee by local company Regency Marquees. Next the stunning purple interior was completed with glass effect chairs by Planet Pursuits.

Finally the room was completed with table centres provided by Swindon based florist Fleur, who provided a beautiful colour coded selection of flower arrangements.

Power and electrics were installed by Wottoon Basset based WGS Power and MC Event Loos provided the essential posh loo.

On the big day the event was kicked off by jazz trio The Missfits  and featured the brilliant roaming Oyster Meister, serving delicious fresh oyster - which certainly created a talking point.

The Cotswold Cooks, based at Purton House, Purton, provided a delicious ‘Madam Bovary’ inspired buffet and a pop up ‘street food style’ pudding and vintage china tea tent. Finally, Moles Brewery (Cascade Drinks) kept everyone refreshed with a its locally brewed beer and cider.

Congratulations to all the local companies involved and to Planet Pursuits for winning.
