Recognition for local police 

Awards ceremony commends dedicated personnel
 
Members of Wiltshire's police force were commended last week, during an awards ceremony held at STEAM Museum.
 
Officers involved in two of the town's biggest cases were awarded for their hard work and dedication that saw offenders brought to justice with custodial sentences.

Awards were presented by Arkell brewery's director James Arkell, who also received a veteran's award from Mayor Steve Wakefield.

The high-profile investigation into the hammer attack on Henry Webster committed by a group of males in the grounds of Ridgeway School.

Hard work paid off for Operation Dakota:

Stacey Turner, Natalie Uff and Roxanne Cole worked closely with the Operation Dakota team throughout the investigation, giving guidance on issues such as charging decisions, disclosure, and how the case was to be presented.
 
PCSO Nissar Sultan gained vital information and evidence throughout, helping the enquiry team to identify witnesses and generate information leading to the arrest of an outstanding offender.
 
PS Madge Lynch also secured vital evidence in relation to clothing and mobile telephones which played a fundamental role within both Operation Dakota trials and secured the convictions of 13 defendants.
 
Operation Denver
 
A case concerning a male who was attacked with a claw hammer and subsequently robbed, leaving him with serious and life-threatening head injuries.

DC Corin Dennison was the Deputy Senior Investigating Officer, and lead the team with minimal intelligence, information, witnesses and evidence, ensuring the offender was brought to justice and received a 10-year custodial sentence.
 
PC Richard Saunders was nominated as the case builder following the charging of a suspect, and was a vital link between the Case Officer and the Crown Prosecution Service.
