remembered by colleagues
A Swindon businesswoman who dedicated her career to the regeneration of Swindon, has tragically lost her battle to cancer.

Jan Tierney, who was a founding member of the New Swindon Company in 2002, sadly passed away on Saturday, just one day after her 47th birthday.

Her role as New Swindon Company Secretary, Director of Corporate Services and Chair of Swindon Cultural Partnership made her one of the most influential people in the regeneration of the town.

As the new plans take shape across the town, everyone who has worked with Jan will remember fondly her passion and dedication which has made so much possible.

New Swindon Company's Chief Executive, Peter James, said: “Jan brought with her such vitality and energy, her passing will undoubtedly leave a void in the lives of those who knew her.

“She will be sorely missed. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Nicole and Phil and Jan's sisters and parents.”
John Cullum, Chairman of The New Swindon Company, had worked for many years with Jan at both New Swindon and previously PHH.

He said: “I will fondly remember a big personality combined with a great sense of humour, passion and energy.

“Her strength of character shone through during the difficult health problems she endured; she will remain an inspiration to the many friends who cared for her.”

Rod Bluh, leader of Swindon Borough Council, knew Jan through many of her ventures across the town, and commented: “She will be so sadly missed. My thoughts and sympathies are with her family.”
