Inspired new owners for Centre Fitness

Town centre gym gets a new look

Situated in the heart of the town, the Centre Fitness gym is the perfect location for commuters and business people hoping to squeeze in a workout before or after work – something which new owners Matt Todd and Gordon Brownrigg are keen to promote.

Matt and father-in-law Gordon joined forces after realising the potential of the gym's ideal location and large premises, and particularly with Matt's already extensive experience of running fitness centres in the UK and America.

(l-r) Matt Todd and father-in-law Gordon Brownrigg
have big plans f or Centre Fitness after taking
ownership earlier this month

Matt is keen to take a personal approach with all his customers, creating a much more friendly and sociable environment.

He told us: “Most gyms will sign you up, give you an hour's induction, then set you loose on all the equipment. But we'll be conducting our inductions over three sessions so that I can see exactly what they're capable of, and to make sure their regimes are tailor-made to their requirements.”

Another key issue which they want to address is female attendance.
Gordon said: “The ratio of men to women is currently about 90/10, but we'd really like to push that to 60/40.

"Our next big plan is to create a more female-friendly environment, and eventually we plan to build a beauty room."

The club has recently undergone a quarter of a million pound makeover, but Matt and Gordon have much more of a long-term plan, including a café and state-of-the-art sports hall.
