Swindon Businesses Embrace Bike Week
Sustrans and Swindon Travel Choices delighted with Bike to Work sign up
National Bike Week ran from the 14th to the 22nd of June with residents all across Swindon getting involved in bike breakfasts, led rides and even battling it out as part of the Bike to Work Day competition.
Sustrans and Swindon Travel Choices who were responsible for hosting the events were delighted by the numbers getting involved. Matt Jones Project Officer at Sustrans said:
“It’s been a fantastic week and we’ve seen a genuine uplift in cycling numbers. Some of those workplaces involved in Bike to Work Day saw nearly double the numbers of regular cyclists that they had only a few months ago".
With over 700 attendees at bike breakfasts, hungry cyclists were rewarded for their efforts and well fed with healthy offerings, free maps and bike security marking.
In the highly competitive
Bike to Work Day competition the winners in the large workplace category were

“We are really pleased to have won today's competition, and are looking forward to a Bike Picnic courtesy of Sustrans and Swindon Travel Choices,” a spokesman for Openwork commented.
“We're committed to having some great facilities in place here at our head office, for cyclists and runners alike.”
Cole Easdon

Congratulations to all who took part!
