Regeneration feedback

Forum allows public to have their say on plans for Swindon town centre

Changing Swindon
A forum organised by the New Swindon Company has given people the opportunity to comment on the current regeneration of Swindon town centre.

Over a dozen people took the chance to ask questions of those planning the work so far, and to learn more on the progress of the various developments currently in the pipeline such as plans for Regent Circus and the old post office site in Fleming Way.

A number of issues in particular were identified at the meeting, with those present most keen to be kept informed with development dates, sites and for the terms used in the regeneration plan to be better explained.

The New Swindon Company are now responding to the feedback and have planned future meetings to allow other issues to be discussed.

Overall, a very positive meeting according to New Swindon Company Executive Peter James.

"It's essential we're reminded of people's concerns," he said, "because it's easy for us [the New Swindon Company] to get immersed in the whole project."

"We've certainly learnt a lot from tonight's forum and we'll now be reacting to what people have said."
