First day for re-opened Swindon tented market

 

Back in business: the Swindon tented market near Wharf Green

Shoppers have been welcomed back to the re-opened Swindon tented market today.

 

Those taking the first look round met new traders and some of those returning after the market was forced to close in 2007 as part of a proposed regeneration of Swindon town centre - plans that have subsequently been scrapped.

 

Units offering the usual fruit and veg and haberdashery have been joined by those selling vintage clothes, decorative glass and even heavy metal jewellery.

The market will be officially re-opened on Friday 23 October when a Del Boy look-a-like will appear from 11am alongside his trademark Trotters Independent Traders Reliant Robin.
