Car parking charges slashed
Parking costs cut in Swindon town centre and Old Town
Huge cuts in car parking charges have been introduced in Swindon as of
Monday,
12 July 2010.
The Council, along with inSwindon and The Brunel Shopping Centre are slashing charges in a bid to help local businesses, residents and attract more shoppers to boost the local economy.
Swindon Town Centre
- £1 to park for up to an hour
- £2 for up to 4 hours
at the
Brunel North, Brunel West and Fleming Way car parks.
Old Town
- 70p for up to an hour
- £1 for stays of between one and two hours
at
Bath Road, Britannia Place, Dammas Lane, Prospect Place and The Planks car parks.
They hope the move will boost use of its car parks which are suffering a drop in trade during the recession. "inSwindon, its partners and all retailers in the town centre are delighted that the local authority have actively engaged and reacted quickly to the concerns regarding the town centre parking tariff," comented Simon Jackson CEO inSwindon.
"We are confident that this will make a significant positive to the trading environment to the town centre." |
