A Spot of Swindon Summer Fashion - in Oxford!
Riverside runway showcases top British brands at Designer Outlet
Shoppers and scholars looked on as the Swindon Designer Outlet staged an alternative fashion show this week.
The centre took to the water to put on a stylish, patriotic display as a quintessentially British fashion show on punts cruised down the River Thames in Oxford.
The display was in celebration of a bumper year of sales for the Swindon's British brands, which has seen spend up 10.4% year-on-year as clothing and accessories from the likes of LK Bennett, Hobbs and Ted Baker flew off the hangers.
McArthurGlen Swindon also reported impressive bank holiday May figures with year-on-year sales up 33% and footfall up 50% following the introduction of a number of new brands to the centre in 2011, including Kurt Geiger, Fiorelli and Quba & Co.
Jubilee & Olympics
McArthurGlen Swindon’s British river pageant took place ahead of the biggest summer in modern history, as the nation counts down to the hotly awaited London 2012 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Models decked out in this season’s trends from brands including LK Bennett, Hobbs and Charles Tyrwhitt posed on punts as they followed the same route the Queen will take when she celebrates her Diamond Jubilee in June.
“We’re delighted to announce these exciting results for our Swindon outlet, which clearly demonstrate that people are actively seeking out the leading British brands on offer,” commented Tina Cumpstey, Centre Manager at McArthurGlen’s Swindon.
