The Sport Of Shopping

You don't have to be as fit as Jessica Ennis to take part in this challenge!

Brunel Shopping Centre
Swindon town centre

The Brunel shopping centre will be holding a Sport of Shopping challenge from Wednesday 01 August until Tuesday 04 September to celebrate the Olympics.

Each Saturday, staff will be handing out pedometers and challenging people to walk a mile in the centre – there will also be a prize for the person who has walked the furthest.

Sport Of Shopping Brunel

Throughout The Brunel there will be red footprints which shoppers can follow in order to complete the mile.

Along the way Brunel ‘athletes’ can find QR codes for offers including 20% off a chiropody treatment at Shuropody, a 15 minutes for the price of 12 on massages and acupuncture at Herbs and Health and buy one get one free on Paninis at Café Roma.

Every week the customer who has shopped the furthest will be logged onto a leader board and the shopper who clocks up the most miles will be rewarded with £100 of gift vouchers and a gold medal for being the Sport of Shopping champions.

Andy Wynn, manager of The Brunel, said: “This is an exciting way to get people fit and having fun during the Olympic season."

“The fun challenge will hopefully get people thinking about the health benefits of shopping - if you do our Sporting Mile with a friend, you could then share a Double Chocolate Brownie Cookie from Café Licious completely guilt free.”
