But not as a pub... new coffee shop and retail units planned for historic Old Town building

New plans are afoot for the former Old Bell pub in Old Town.
Empty since closing earlier this year after a failed re-launch, the once popular venue will now be transformed into a potential brand-name coffee shop with adjacent retail units.
"It opens up the whole area and building, the layout of which just isn't suited anymore to being a bar, hotel and restaurant," John Slattery, Director of Bell Arcade Limited, who are developing the site, told us.
"The plans are yet to be finalised but we've already had considerable interest from businesses wanting to open here.
"People will able to walk from the High Street through here to the Godwin Court and into Wood Street."
Depending on planning permission a late autumn opening date is being targeted.
An opportunity for local residents' to see the plans and discuss the development is also in the pipeline. |
