Spring Wedding Guest Looks

Invite dropped on your doorstep?

Wedding wonderlands are approaching us at a staggering rate.

With brides around the country finalising the last touches to their May and June weddings, it’s time to think what you are going to wear.

The top 3 rules of wedding guest attire are as follows:

1. NEVER out do the bride.
Yes, you’re going to want to look fabulous on the day but you have to remember, this isn’t your day!

2. You are not going on a night out on the town.
This is usually a sophisticated occasion. Keep those dresses at a good length and don’t show too much cleavage.

3. High heels are always going to make your legs looked slender and more toned.
But before purchasing, make sure you can walk around the store without breaking an ankle. Nobody likes a goose walk.

Having parked in the Brunel car park, I walked past the House of Fraser outlet. I usually stroll past without giving it a second glance, but I decided to go and have a snoop round and was surprised with the goodies I found.

Not only did they have tops for £6 but they had a variety of dresses perfect for a wedding, ranging from £10 onwards.

They have some great spring colours in from aqua blues to delicate purples for all body shapes, so it is definitely worth a look!

As I walked past all the new vintage shops I decided to pop into Marks & Spencer

Knowing they have just released their new leading ladies campaign featuring the likes of Annie Lennox and Rita Ora, I wanted to see if they had any of the new collection and to my surprise they did.

The gorgeous dress below is such a cute style with the flirty bottom skirt.

Marks & Spencer

It is a great length and with slightly stretchy material there's no need to worry how much you eat during the wedding breakfast!

Coming in at £39.50 it’s perfect for such an on-trend dress.

If you are looking for something slightly more classic, however, they also had a gorgeous grey patterned dress

Marks & Spencer

The stomach area is slightly rouched to give you the effect of having a flatter stomach. With the cap sleeved it helps to hide the problem areas on the arms without having to wear a jacket, which is what you want for the spring season.

This dress is £45 and is stocked in the M&S collection close to the food section.

I walked up towards H&M next and, over the years, I have started to discover that they have a real treasure trove of smarter stuff upstairs (almost like McIlroys!).

As soon as you come off the escalator, the first dress that caught my eye on the left was a bright floral body con dress.

H&M Floral

It’s a slightly shorter dress than the others I have suggested, but it shows hardly any cleavage so you can get away with it.

The bright floral print on the dress and the way it hugs your curves makes it ultra feminine and a dress, which is reusable time and time again. This dress is only £14.99!

Behind me from the floral dress, I spotted this dusky pink maxi dress, that isn’t just lovely for wedding guest outfit but would also be a great idea for abridesmaid dress as well.

The length is perfect and could be worn with heels or sandals depending on your preference. For £34.99, this dress is a wedding dream.

H&M Swindon Maxi Dress

I decided to pop into Warehouse on my way back to the car park.

They are known for having some really great dresses so is definitely worth a visit.

I found a beautiful maxi dress. Admittedly, its £80 so slightly more than I was hoping to find a dress for, but again I feel this is a dress that can be worn on so many occasions, not just to weddings.

Warehouse Maxi Dress

The maxi length is great and has a really interesting neckline and in bold blues and reds it’s a really beautiful dress for weddings, holidays, and just general spring/summer use.

Miss Selfridge, Topshop and River Island have some seriously on-trend pieces but nothing I felt would be appropriate for a wedding. New Look had some great spring colours in but again nothing I thought suitable.

For under £70, these are my top choices, so check the date on that invite and let the shopping begin!
