As prom dresses fly off the rails, we ask the question – why so early?

Formal wear specialists Leslie Hatcher have been selling prom dresses since as far back as September, in preparation for the forthcoming school proms in May.

Offering a great collection of exclusive dresses, proprietor Leslie Hatcher says their most popular style of dress is the longer, slimmer styles, with few choosing the shorter lengths.

And Leslie believes he knows why this year has seen such an early demand for dresses.

He said: “Proms are becoming a more prominent part of school life – girls are taking them more seriously, and we've even been having emergency deliveries to keep up with the demand.”

The ground floor of the shop used to feature just menswear, but with this recent demand taking over the market, they will be dramatically reducing their stock of menswear to make way for more dresses.

Leslie describes his collection as “easily the biggest in Swindon”, and with over 100 styles expected to be gracing their rails by the end of the summer, they could soon be the only shop in Swindon with a whole department dedicated to formal dresses.

He said: “We're aiming to become the biggest supplier of dresses in Swindon, and we've got the space to do this job really well here.”

Prices range from £150 to £350, with the vast majority costing between £200 to £300.
