Try these shopping ideas for all your essential Christmas goodies
Doing all your Christmas food shopping down the local supermarket?
Yes, so are we!...... well, sort of.
But we do realise that Christmas is far more than just queues and Quality Street. It's a time for the essentials, yes, but also those extra nibbles and special foodstuffs that we only eat once a year and make Christmas all the better.
So here's a quick guide for the alternative places in Swindon you can buy your Christmas food.
1. Wyevale Garden Centre

More than just poinsettias and Christmas decorations, we were really quite impressed with the foody stuffs on offer at the Wyevale Garden at this time of year - especially their selection of relishes and marmalades!
If you fancy the likes of Orange & Brandy or Lemon & Whisky on your early morning toast, then this is the place to go.
We bought a jar of fig & plum relish ready for Boxing day, plus some mincemeat for homemade mincepies.

If there's one winter snack we love, it has to be a slice or two of cured sausage.
There'll be a great selection on offer at the Christmas Market (where else) along Canal Walk in Swindon town centre until 24 December. Grab some other goodies while you're there.
4. Hinton Marsh Farm

Had enough of turkey?
Goose, beef, gammon and lamb are all on offer (plus their lovely Turkeys as well!).
But hurry if your want to order in time for the big day.
5. Butts Farm

Rare breed, anyone? For exotic meats try Butts Farm Shop for an unusual but flavoursome choice of venison, veal and pheasant.

What could be better than waking up late on a Sunday morning and heading down to the Sunday Farmers’ Market at the Designer Outlet Village, where there are so many unbelievable choices wonderful choices of fruit and vegetables ready for your picking.

But sometimes our Swindon weather is just too cold to venture outside, meaning you have a chance to go online to Coleshill Organics and order one of their famous vegetable boxes. With different sizes to choose from, there’s something to suit all size families.

These jolly Bassett butchers love Christmas - and it's no wonder! Turkeys, geese, cockerel, Bassett Bangers... the lot!

Decorating your Christmas cake with your family is a fantastic way to get into the Christmas spirit, so head to Sugar Celebrations and buy yourself some beautiful edible decorations for your cake (as well as a few sweets for the kids!).

Ahhh, a wee dram at Christmas. And tucked away in Highworth is a real Whisky wonderland!
With over 700 different malts in store, there's not much they don't know about the stuff. We'll raise a toast to that.
11. Arkell's

Christmas was made for Arkell's Noel Ale, and it's only served for the next few weeks, so get 'em in!
A real winter warmer if ever we tasted it, but be careful. It's strong stuff! Pop into an Arkell's pub or order online and pick it a case from your local.
12. Balula's Delicatessen
Old Town
This shop is made for Christmas. Lots of little festive appetisers and nibbles on sale.
