BHF Cancel Swindon Half-Marathon 

10-year-old event now a non-runner say organising charity

 

The 2015 Swindon Half-Marathon will now not take place after the British Heart Foundation [BHF] announced they are no longer organising the event.

 

The charity took over the race from Swindon Borough Council two years ago after cuts meant Leisure Services no longer had the resources to plan and manage what has become one of Swindon's biggest days in the diary, attracting over 1,500 runners of all ages and abilities in 2014.

 

But the BHF now believe the 10-year-old event is 'unviable' and will be no longer be the sponsor or organiser.

 

Refunds

 

The 2015 half-marathon and fun runs were due to take place this year on Sunday 11 October but a statement on the BHF website says all runners who have entered already will be refunded.
