A Day Of Pampering & Good Food!....
With Mother's Day approaching, SwindonWeb's 'mum about town', Kelly Jobanputra, enjoys an early treat at Secrets & Flame at Blunsdon House Hotel
Life as a full time working mum and wife is exhausting, so every now and then I like to take some time out and treat myself to some much-needed relaxation!
And that’s exactly what I got when I experienced the beauty treatments at Secrets (which is part of the Blunsdon House Hotel).
Tasha got us to fill in some health questionnaires before we both were led to a joint room where we would receive our back, neck and shoulder massages followed by express facials.
Myself and Claire led on comfortable massage beds that were next to each other (placing our faces in the holes) and then waited expectantly for our therapists to enter the room.
They gave us just the right amount of time to prepare ourselves and the ambient music playing in the background alongside the dimmed lighting were the perfect additions to this chilled experience. Both treatments were 25 minutes each and I entered a blissful state of calm as soon as Tasha set to work on my tense body.
I very quickly went into that pre-sleep state where you haven’t quite gone under but you’re unwinding with every passing second. I loved the pressure of my massage and by the time I received my facial, I was in heavenly bliss!
Claire also felt that Abby was extremely thorough and professional every step of the way and it was a hard job for her to get up off that table after the treatments were over!
After our wonderful experience with Secrets, we then went to the restaurant at the Blunsdon House Hotel called Flame and had the most gorgeous three course dining experience.
Time for food! I was especially impressed that the staff were so accommodating with all of my dietary needs and were able to roast my potatoes using olive oil (allowing me to have a delicious roast dinner that also included succulent selections of meat and steamed vegetables).
Before the roast, we both enjoyed the chef’s home-made tomato soup (which had just the right amount of onion in it to give it a great taste) and there was also the option to get a range of starters from a counter (including cold meats etc).
We were extremely satisfied after our two courses but did force ourselves to sample a dessert; myself going for a fruit bowl with a selection of hard cheeses and Claire opting for the chocolate fudge cake with cream. She said she died and went to heaven as soon as she took her first bite.
After a thoroughly enjoyable few hours of treatments and tasty food, we finished off our experience at the Blunsdon House Hotel by having a swim in the indoor pool, followed by some time in the hot tub.
Tea in front of the fire in the new-look Carrie's Bar completed a thoroughly luxurious day! Days really don’t get more relaxing than this and we both felt like we were ready to take on the world when we left!
I would recommend this place to everyone, especially people who find it hard to take time out of their busy schedule to have some ‘me’ time.
Secrets has a motive: Energise, restore and nurture your body, mind and soul. I sure did that when I was there and will be going back again very soon.
