Swindon were a shadow of the team that beat Charlton so comprehensively on Monday as they were punished by goals at either end of the game.

 

The second given away by a Charlie Austin handball with two minutes remaining - his second offence in three games - as Oldham snuffed out any chance of a point.

 

Frustrating

 

The home side took the lead as early as the fourth minute when Chris Taylor found space in the penalty box to fire in. Town closest when Michael Rose's free-kick hit the post in the second-half.

 

"Every good performance this season has been followed up by an average one and it's very frustrating to say the least," commented a perplexed Danny Wilson, who confirmed on-loan striker David Ball will be returning to Man City.
