Charlie still a Town player for now - but Morrison Reading-bound

Danny Wilson is set to lose two of his key players as bids for Charlie Austin and Sean Morrison look likely to be accepted.

 

The striker and defender have been the target of a series of Championship clubs in recent weeks, with Morrison the first to move after Reading invoked a release clause in his contract.

 

The 20-year-old is expected to sign on Monday for £250,000 much to the disappointment of STFC Chairman Andrew Fitton.

 

"We'd love to keep him and have tried to do so but there is a release clause in his current contract which we relunctantly agreed to," Fitton confirmed.

Yeovil on Saturday could be the last home appearance for Charlie Austin, after the striker spoke for the first time about moving away from the County Ground.

 

Speaking to SKY Sports concerning transfer speculation, 17-goal Austin said: "Obviously I was disappointed the offer from Hull was turned down. It would have been a good opportunity for me."

"At the moment all I can do is focus on playing for Swindon," he added.

"I am very grateful for Swindon giving me my chance. It's a great club and the fans are a different class.

"However, like any player I have the ambition to play at the highest level I can and for footballing reasons if opportunities come up over the coming weeks then I would hope we will be able sit down and look at it."

21-year-old Austin, who signed from non-League Poole Town in 2009 for £20,000, has been linked to moves to Reading, Ipswich and QPR and is expected to fetch in the region of £2 million.
