Alan Connell came off the bench to end a turbulent week for Swindon on a massive high.

 

With Town 2-1 down, subsititute Connell sensationally equalised when he headed home with almost his first touch of the game - then nodded in the winner from a Matt Ritchie cross with nine minutes to go.

 

Earlier Ritchie had found the net with a deflected shot to cancel out Alex Revell's first-half opener for Rotherham, before the former Town loanee repeated the trick to put the visitors ahead after 65 minutes.

 

But after Danny Schofield was sent-off for Rotherham, Di Canio made a tactical switch by swapping Magera for Connell with immediate results.

 

Town's only blemish being the late dismissal of Alberto Comazzi for a second bookable offence.

 

"We played with spirit and intelligence today," a delighted Di Canio commented.

 

"The players deserved the win and to smile after this. We've won as a team."
